The Christian Elders and Professionals Consultative Council of Nigeria (CEPCC) has expressed concern over recent public reports surrounding the alleged operation of a fraudulent government agency and the serious questions such reports have raised regarding accountability, institutional oversight, public financial management, and the integrity of governance in Nigeria.

As a Christian, non-partisan, and policy-oriented institution committed to promoting biblical values, ethical leadership, professional excellence, justice, and responsible citizenship, the Council believes that allegations of this nature deserve prompt, transparent, independent, and impartial investigation by the appropriate constitutional authorities.

The reported circumstances surrounding the alleged establishment and operation of a fake government agency, including claims of public funding, occupation of government office facilities, and interactions with public institutions, have generated understandable public concern. If established through lawful investigation, such developments would expose serious weaknesses in institutional controls and administrative oversight that require urgent attention.

CEPCC emphasises that public confidence in government institutions depends on transparency, accountability, professionalism, and adherence to the rule of law. Every public institution entrusted with national responsibility must continually strengthen its internal control systems to prevent fraud, abuse of office, impersonation, and mismanagement of public resources.

The Council also notes that several public officials and institutions have been mentioned in media reports and public commentary relating to this matter. However, in keeping with the principles of justice, fairness, and due process, CEPCC considers it inappropriate to draw conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual or institution before the completion of lawful investigations and, where necessary, judicial determination.

Similarly, the Council rejects attempts to interpret allegations involving individuals as evidence of collective responsibility on the basis of ethnicity, region, religion, or any other identity. Nigeria’s challenges require national unity rather than ethnic suspicion, and accountability should always be based on individual conduct and verifiable evidence rather than ethnic or sectional generalisations.

The Council therefore calls upon all relevant anti-corruption agencies, security institutions, oversight bodies, and other competent authorities to carry out comprehensive, independent, and professional investigations into every aspect of the matter. Where evidence of wrongdoing is established, all persons found culpable should be held accountable in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, irrespective of status, political affiliation, ethnic background, or religious identity.

CEPCC further encourages public officials at every level to embrace the highest standards of integrity, transparency, diligence, and accountability in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities. Strong institutions, rather than strong personalities, remain the foundation of sustainable democracy and national development.

The Council equally urges Nigerians to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and responsible in expressing their opinions. Public discourse should be guided by facts, civility, respect for due process, and commitment to national cohesion, while avoiding inflammatory rhetoric capable of deepening ethnic, religious, or regional divisions.

As a body comprising Christian elders and professionals from diverse backgrounds, CEPCC remains committed to promoting ethical leadership, institutional reforms, justice, transparency, and responsible governance. The Council believes that Nigeria’s future can only be secured through integrity in public service, independent institutions, equal justice under the law, and unwavering respect for constitutional principles.

The Christian Elders and Professionals Consultative Council of Nigeria reaffirms its commitment to working with government institutions, the Church, civil society, professional bodies, and other stakeholders in advancing a Nigeria founded on truth, justice, accountability, peace, and sustainable national development.
