Abia’s Debt Burden Is Falling, And The Figures Speak – By Prof Chukwuemeka Ifegwu Eke

ABIA’S DEBT BURDEN IS FALLING, AND THE FIGURES SPEAK The official DMO numbers show that Abia’s domestic debt was ₦142.47 billion as at June 30, 2023. That is not propaganda. That is the DMO’s published record. So what does that mean in plain language? It means Abia’s domestic debt fell by about ₦94.06 billion between June 2023 and December 2025. That is a reduction of roughly 66%. Even…

Political Loyalty vs. People’s Interest: Osita Offor Defends Uche Ogah’s Bold Stand on Otti OTV Editorial - 20/4/2026 The political atmosphere in Abia State has been charged in recent days following growing tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the stance of one of its prominent National Leaders, Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah, CON. Dr. Ogah, who once served as Minister of State under the administration of the ruling party, APC, has stirred debate after openly declaring his support for the current governor of the state, Alex Chioma Otti of the Labour Party. Beyond Defections: Why Performance Still Defines Governor Otti’s 2027 Strength – By Prof Chukwuemeka Ifegwu Eke

Beyond Defections: Why Performance Still Defines Governor Otti’s 2027 Strength A calm reading of recent developments—including the case of Chief Iheanyi Frank Chinasa (Dogo) —shows what it truly is: routine political movement, not a defining moment for governance in Abia. In every administration, there are exits—some voluntary, some situational, some strategic. Some notable examples are resignations such as Mr. Chima Oriaku, Prof. Monica Ironkwe, Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, and Mr. Chukwunenye Alajemba. These are part of normal political and administrative cycles, not evidence of systemic collapse. Individuals change positions for many reasons—personal ambition, policy disagreements, or alignment ahead of elections. That…

A Masterclass In Public Finance: Setting The Record Straight For Eke O Ako, Obinna Oriaku & Co. – By Prof Chukwuemeka Ifegwu Eke

A MASTERCLASS IN PUBLIC FINANCE: SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT FOR EKE O AKO, OBINNA ORIAKU & CO. Let us begin from first principles, because public finance is too serious to be surrendered to outrage, selective arithmetic, and political performance. The loudest voices in this debate keep recycling one misleading impression: that Abia State is receiving huge inflows without evidence of discipline, prudence, or fiscal restructuring. That claim collapses once the numbers are read properly. The most important point, which Eke O Ako, Obinna Oriaku, and their sympathizers keep dodging, is that Abia State has been on a measurable path of…

Ben Kalu Abusing No.6 Power To Muscle Out Mascot Kalu, Henry Ikoh When APC Is Ripe To Take Over Abia – By Agwu Obasi Emeaba

BEN KALU ABUSING NO. 6 POWER TO MUSCLE OUT MASCOT KALU, HENRY IKOH WHEN APC IS RIPE TO TAKE OVER ABIA By Agwu Obasi Emeaba Abia APC is walking into the 2027 cycle with an early but dangeroustension for a possible implosion. Recently, Abia APC stakeholders from across the three senatorial districts of the state endorsed Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, for the governorship ticket against the two other governorship hopefuls. The other two that were schemed out in clandestine maneuvers included Mascot Uzor Kalu, a businessman and kid brother to the APC chieftain and financier, Sen.…

Abia Under The Spotlight: Data, Programmes, And The Real Story Behind The Numbers – By Prof Chukwuemeka Ifegwu Eke

ABIA UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT: DATA, PROGRAMMES, AND THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE NUMBERS A growing wave of commentary around Abia State’s finances and development trajectory has triggered renewed scrutiny of the administration of Governor Alex Otti. While critics cite large aggregate revenue figures—often quoted around ₦1.6 trillion since 2023—the more important question for analysts is not the headline number, but what constitutes that figure and how it translates into measurable outcomes.Public finance records show that state revenues in Nigeria are not monolithic. They comprise Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) disbursements, internally generated revenue (IGR), grants, and local government allocations. According…
