GODA: FIRST PHASE OF ABIA-AMAMIRI ROAD NEARS COMPLETION AS ASPHALT LAYING PROGRESSES

‎The Abia State Government, through the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), is gradually concluding the first phase of the Abia-Amamiri Road project, aimed at connecting Abia Ohafia and Amamiri in Arochukwu Local Government Area, providing an alternative route between the two neighbouring local government areas.

‎A team of GODA supervisors, led by the Director-General, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum, on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, conducted an inspection visit to the project site and expressed satisfaction with the pace of asphalt laying.

‎The road, which has an overall cleared distance of approximately 2.5 kilometres, is receiving asphalt over a 1.5-kilometre stretch in the first phase of the project. The intervention is expected to provide relief to commuters while improving connectivity between the two local government areas.

‎The project is also expected to benefit local residents, particularly farmers, by facilitating the movement of agricultural produce from farms to markets and other destinations.

‎Speaking during the inspection, the Director-General of GODA, Elder Engr. Obinna Odum, reaffirmed the Abia State Government’s commitment to infrastructure development under the leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

‎Engr. Odum assured residents that the government remains committed to delivering the project within a reasonable timeframe, stressing that construction would adhere strictly to approved engineering standards to ensure durability, safety and long-term value
