The winds of change have swept through Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba and nowhere is this transformation more evident than in the Department of Hospitality Management.
Before the appointment of Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu as Rector by the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), the department was in dire need of revival. The school restaurant, once envisioned as a hub of learning and culinary creativity had been under lock and key, crippled by poor management and equipment that had long fallen into disrepair.
Today, that sad chapter is closed. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu, the department has undergone a remarkable rebirth. State-of-the-art teaching and practical equipment now fill the training spaces, creating an environment that inspires both learning and innovation.
The joy and gratitude of the Head of Department,vividly captured in a recent video clip are more than personal emotions; they are a living confirmation to the power of effective leadership and purposeful governance.
Gone are the days when students could only draw and label imaginary gas cookers and ovens in their notebooks. Now, these essential tools are physically present, available exclusively for hands-on teaching and practical sessions. Students can engage directly with modern culinary technology, preparing them for real-world excellence in the hospitality industry.
This achievement is not just an upgrade in facilities; it is an investment in human capital, a statement that Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, under Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu, is committed to producing graduates who are fully equipped to compete and excel anywhere in the world.
