In my years as leader of teams, I have been privileged and fortunate to select the best of purposeful people to work with for impact. My legendary criteria of Character, Competence and Capacity have always guided who gets on the team. It has mostly helped to find the Best of people like @mariefrancoisemarienelly .
That is why Pastor Chinedu and I were super-thrilled to join my former colleagues, friends and associates of @WorldBank to celebrate Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly’s 60th birthday, retirement and farewell events in Cape Town. And I joyfully performed the task MF assigned me, which was to speak of her work as a member of our Senior Leadership Team in the Africa Region of the @WorldBank .
Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly, an immensely passionate French national from Martinique stands out among many exceptional team members I had during my time as VP @WorldBank in DC. One had the good sense of deploying MF to tough country programs and so she was my Country Director for DRC and afterward, Nigeria.
She was later deployed to Morocco for the Maghreb countries and from there to South Africa covering also countries like Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini.
Besides the country directorate assignments, MF is leaving behind indelible footprints on Private Sector Development and Regional Integration across Africa and has millions of fans with fond memories of her profound love for our continent.
