The Planned Relocation Of CBN And FAAN Is Just The Tip Of The Iceberg – Bashir

In light of the planned relocation of the headquarters of CBN and FAAN, Bashir Dalhatu, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Arewa Consultative Forum, has reacted to the matter. He stated that the planned relocation of FAAN and CBN to Lagos State is just the tip of the iceberg. He made this statement, pointing out that this is not the first time a major ministry, department, or agency has relocated to Lagos State. He further stated that there are other states in Nigeria, like Anambra, Kaduna, or Rivers State, which the CBN or FAAN can be relocated to, but the government chose Lagos State, just like they did in 1999.

Speaking further in an interview with Arise TV, Bashir Dalhatu stated that in 1999 the Nigerian Port Authority was moved from Abuja to Lagos, but nobody thought it was a big deal, but now the federal government has agreed to relocate CBN and FAAN to Lagos State, which begs the question: why Lagos State?

According to him, “the planned relocation of CBN and FAAN to Lagos is just the tip of the iceberg; it started much earlier than that. In 1999, the Nigerian Port Authority was moved from Abuja back to Lagos, and the Nigerian International Institution of Internal Affairs was also moved. We thought it was really not an intentional thing to do at that time.”
