The foremost contender for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in 2023, Reverend Daniel Imo, has taken time to address burning issues bothering on why he is the best candidate for the position of representing his people in the Green Chambers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when some questions arose as to the commitment of Ohafia Sons and daughters to the growth of Ohafia through people-focused efforts to uplift Ohafia.

The case of emergency philanthropy during election has continued to be the bane of development. The question of Ohafia General Hospital as dead trap is a topic that every well meaning son/daughter of Ohafia is worried about in relation to the no concern attitude of the government towards preventing the lose of lives of Ohafians every year due to bad state of the hospital. The discussion brought to fore, the contributions of many sons in no elective period and why such persons should be given better opportunity to stand in the gap for the people.

Responding to a poser in the forum, Rev. Daniel Imo posited thus:
“I am the National President of Ohafia National Organization, USA. California Chapter, donated some equipment a few years ago to this same hospital. Today, the rest is history.

“When I led a formidable team of over a hundred medical professionals in 2017 for an unprecedented free medical mission to Ohafia Oful’ishi. Those donated equipment from California were nowhere to be found.

“Nevertheless, in ten days, we successfully conducted very complex surgeries at the Ohafia General Hospital Theater and Dr Uma Ukpai Specialist Eye Clinic, Asaga where over five thousand people benefited from the program.
These were cases that would have been referred to Enugu or Umuahia but medical Professionals handled them in OHAFIA.

He further revealed:

“At the moment, I applied, on behalf of ONO, and got approval for medical equipment worth over five hundred thousand US Dollars ($500,000) by a US Agency. Guaranty for safety and other logistics are standing in the way.

“The only functional water system at the General Hospital was executed by Amaekpu Development Union, USA, under my project Chairmanship.

“Chief Dr Olugu Ukpai of Challenge And Malaria In Africa, (CHAMA), who lives in Canada, an Ohafia illustrious son, is a Law Consultant and global health advocate. He has equally done numerous medical outreaches in Ohafia and other international destinations. He loves Ohafia so dearly.

“Dr Chidia Maduekwe, our own Ishinka Ohafia, and APC Guber Aspirant pioneered a rural health scheme when he attracted equipment and medical support from Germany, etc. Yet, there are many more health interventions yet to be mentioned and harnessed.

“The truth of the matter is that, sometimes, government bureaucracy in Abia affects such interventions. ONO USA was charged money for the use of Ohafia General Hospital. We paid.

“Some Ohafia sons, some of whom are seeking elective offices today, helped to frustrate those efforts. Chief Ndukwe Iko assisted us with patients’ mobility. Big thanks, Chief. Thank God we succeeded massively.
