
Uko Nkole Takes Senatorial Ambition To Umunneochi.Builds Grassroots Momentum For Peter Obi’s 2027 Presidency
The political momentum surrounding the senatorial ambition of Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole received a fresh boost on Sunday as he embarked on a strategic consultation across Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, engaging traditional rulers, political leaders, community stakeholders and party executives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The consultation, which took place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, formed part of Nkole’s wider engagement with stakeholders across Abia North as he sought their support for his ambition to represent the Senatorial District at the National Assembly.










From community leaders to traditional institutions and his political party structures, the Umunneochi consultations provided an opportunity to deepen relationships, listen to stakeholders and present his political vision ahead of the 2027 senatorial contest.
The engagement began at the residence of Shedrack Chukwubuike Okereke, popularly known as Asian Tiger, at Aroikpa Nneato, where Nkole and his entourage also received the blessing of his nonagenarian father, Pa Mazi Ogbuehi Sunday Okereke, a respected politician who was politically active and relevant up till the early during 4Th Republic .
The delegation subsequently visited the residence of Ide Ifeanyi Okechukwu, popularly known as BOK, next door neighbor before proceeding to the palace of His Royal Highness, Eze Franklin Ohalezim Ezema III of Lokpa, Chairman of the Umunneochi Traditional Rulers Council.
At the palace, the delegation consulted with royal fathers and sought their counsel and support ahead of the political season the Traditional rulers . The engagement was followed by a lunch reception in honor of Nkole and entourage hosted by HRH Ifeanyi Eke Ogbunaechendu, Udumeze III of Lokpanta in behalf of the Traditional Rulers Council.
The consultation also brought Nkole’s political network into focus, with a meeting involving the Trump/Broson-led 12 Ward and LGA executives of the NDC in Umunneochi, and the friends of Uko Nkole political structure respectively.
The meeting underscored the importance of a strong grassroots structure in advancing Nkole’s senatorial ambition, particularly as political activities and consultations intensify across Abia North.
Nkole also consulted with Chief Aliadunpali Dickson, an NDC chieftain in Umunneochi, before paying a courtesy call on Rt. Hon. Ikedi Ezekwesiri, Eze-Elect Ochi II of Isuochi, where the delegation was treated to dinner.
The Umunneochi engagement is also coming within the broader political framework of the NDC’s 2027 project, with the presidential ambition of Mr. Peter Obi providing the national political platform around which the party’s grassroots structures are being strengthened.
For Nkole, however, the consultations are providing an avenue to connect directly with communities and political stakeholders whose support will be crucial in the contest.
The delegation included Hon. Emeka Okafor, a two-time former Commissioner and Director-General of the NDC Campaign Council, Abia State; Engr. Uchenna Okagbue, Leader of NDC Bende and Director of Contact and Mobilisation of the NDC Campaign Council, Abia State; Chief Okoro Okeke Egwuronu, Zonal Chairman of NDC Abia North; Mr. Ikenna Okorafor,Engr Simon Obiechile,Mr Obiefuna Ikenga,Hon Biereonwu among others.
The series of meetings further highlighted the growing importance of grassroots consultations as political actors position themselves ahead of 2027.
With Umunneochi now added to his ongoing stakeholder engagements, Uko Nkole’s senatorial project continues to gather consultations and political conversations across Abia North, while the wider NDC structure works towards translating its Peter Obi-led presidential project into a formidable grassroots movement.
