A FLOODED SPOT IS NOT A LICENCE TO FLOOD THE PUBLIC WITH FALSEHOOD

A recent social-media post showing waterlogging near the Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Headquarters raises a legitimate concern. The affected location deserves urgent inspection and appropriate remedial action.

However, genuine concern must not be mixed with unsupported claims.

The video does not prove that the affected road is exactly 500 metres long. It provides no contract document, engineering report, dated photographs or other evidence showing that the road has been abandoned continuously for more than three years.

The claim that Isiala Ngwa North receives a fixed ₦540 million from FAAC every month is also misleading. Official FAAC allocations fluctuate from month to month because they comprise different statutory and revenue components. A figure quoted for one period cannot honestly be presented as a permanent monthly payment.

The attempt to suggest that Governor Alex Otti comes from Isiala Ngwa North is equally inaccurate. Governor Otti is from Umuru, Umuehim, in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area—not Isiala Ngwa North.

THE FACT-CHECK VERDICT

The waterlogging shown is real and should be addressed.

But the alleged 500-metre measurement is unverified.

The claimed three-year abandonment is unsupported.

The fixed ₦540 million monthly allocation is misleading.

The claim about the Governor’s local government of origin is false.

Responsible opposition should identify problems and demand solutions. It should not weaken a legitimate complaint with exaggerations, geographical errors and unverified financial claims.

The Abia State Government welcomes constructive scrutiny and remains committed to addressing genuine infrastructure challenges across the state.

SEE A PROBLEM. REPORT THE FACTS. DO NOT MANUFACTURE A NARRATIVE.
