OKADA POLICY: SECURITY, ORDER AND PUBLIC SAFETY
THE POSITION OF THE ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT
The regulation of commercial motorcycles in designated urban areas is not an attack on struggling citizens. It is a necessary measure designed to protect lives, strengthen security and restore order on our roads.
The policy is intended to:
- identify and properly document commercial motorcycle operators;
- prevent criminals from hiding behind unregistered motorcycles;
- improve traffic safety and reduce reckless operations;
- ensure that riders can be traced and held accountable where necessary; and
- protect residents, commuters and legitimate operators.
The restriction is targeted at designated metropolitan areas. It is not a blanket statewide ban, nor is it intended to destroy livelihoods.
The claim that the policy exists solely to generate revenue is misleading. Registration and identification are essential security tools in every responsible transport system.
The government remains committed to lawful, humane and transparent enforcement. Any case of extortion, harassment or abuse by enforcement personnel should be reported and investigated.
Citizens have the right to criticise government, but public debate must be based on verified facts—not assumptions, political hostility or misinformation.
SECURITY REGULATION IS NOT PERSECUTION.
DOCUMENTATION IS NOT EXPLOITATION.
SECURE ABIA. SAFE ABIA. ORDERLY ABIA.
