An appeal for Medical help:Re:Othniel Chimdiomimi-Amogu Ukoha for cochlear implant
My name is Rev Prince Ukoha Ukpai, a serving Minister with the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria. I am from Asaga Ohafia, and reside in Upstair line World bank, Umuahia, Abia state.
I write with utmost humility and in deep concern to appeal for your kind intervention and assistance in sponsoring the medical treatment of my son, who is currently battling severe hearing impairment and urgently requires a cochlear implant to restore his ability to hear and speak.
Othniel Chimdiomimi was diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss at an early age.
We started the medical examinations from FMC Umuahia down to Maitama District Hospital, then to Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital and finally to Garki General Hospital, aside other private hospitals.
His condition is such that even a hearing aid could not help to stimulate hearing. The only medical solution is to get a cochlear implant. And the cost is over 30million (as at 2023) naira.
Th child is currently 4yrs and Four months old. According to medical directives, the surgery should be done between age 1-5years old which is the window period for speech development.
Failure to do this implant within the 1st 5yrs of life, he will not be able to speak again for life.
All efforts we have made to raise funds stood at a little above #200,000 (two hundred thousand naira plus) since 2023. My wife is a teacher.
I am therefore appealing to all well meaning Ndi Abia, Ndi Igbo and the general public for your compassionate intervention to do the cochlear implant.
We are willing to provide all supporting medical documents, hospital reports, and cost breakdowns at your earliest request.
May the Lord use you to remove this reproach. In Jesus name. Amen!
