GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI’S POLITICAL ALCHEMY FOR OHAFIA LGA IN CONTEXT.
As we finally dovetail into the selection and election spectacles of the third tier of government nationwide, Abia state has taken its own fair share of the intrigues and orography concerning who’s best fitted to become the next executive chairpersons to take over from the mayoral governance entities, in other words known as our local governments.
Of particular interest in this review within the context of analytical spectrometry is what may appear today as melodramatic political dynamics amid evolving alchemy of political mechanics in Ohafia mythical society.
The big question is why Ohafia south as a critical political block is suddenly very wide awake on the burning issue of who becomes the next czar of the local government and why it insists on taking the diadem back to Ofurishi after almost four years since an Udumaeze scion last held the position. What will be the impact or import for instance of Ohafia not taking the next shot at the seat of the local government when election is eventually held on November 02, and what future does it portend for the gravitating political tendencies rounding up to 2027 general elections?
As the chief priest and governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti watches Ohafia from the sidelines and is busy taking useful notes at the trending political dynamics and sociopolitical fissures. He will also be tapping on his inner minds of alchemy, ethical minds of his third eye, and metaphysical minds of his ‘nine lives’ to steer this politically stormy voyage to safety. But one thing you must give to Dr. Alex Otti is his collegiate artistic knowledge of one of humanity’s foremost power tactician of Robert Green’s ’48 laws of Power’, Niccolo Machiaveli.
Alex Otti, a good student of power will not make friends with the stool that cost him so much to acquire, will neither consort nor ‘play love’ politics with anyone over his 2027 ambition. Dr. Alex Otti, learning from Niccolo Machiaveli will be totalitarian, suave, foxy, masochistic, deft, selfish, result oriented, with eyes on the ball, and if you like brutally decisive.
Of particular interest to Alex Otti would be how his decisions on who wears the cap at Ohafia LGA will impact on his expectations in 2027. It will be on his mind that whoever occupies the seat by November 02, will remain there in the next four years and possibly pose a disruptive threat to his reelection bid in 2027. This is one battle Alex Otti will not go with a toy gun. It is a battle he will look himself on the mirror before stepping out unto the uncertainties beholden of the treacherous landscape.
It is a battle that Otti can only confront with facts, figures and data in real time and not to pander to semantics, sentiment, pussyfooting, nor is it a time to engage in fairy tales. Alex Otti must look data in its face before taking a decision for Ohafia. This is a time when he may be advised to smell the coffee of the permissible permutations in the game or go totally broke. The game of Ohafia LGA is a two pronged game, a winner takes all sort of game or what in digital mechanics translates to ‘one or zero’, ‘high or low’, ‘something or nothing’ or simply put, a win or lose political orography. There’s no middle ground in these permutations. 2027 will be too delicate a time to play with emotions.
Note that it is well intended and deliberate in this piece to avoid the resort to Party or to bring in Labour Party, APC, PDP, APGA, Accord etal in the context of elemental analysis. The next election in Abia will be between Alex Otti and any other Party that manages to push a rainbow Coalition consensus.
Therefore the political games of Ohafia LGA is a struggle between Ohafia South of 26 villages and approximately 200,000 registered voters, 5 electoral wards and interesting but critical demographic hub and Ohafia North comprising Abiriba with about 50,000 registered voters, 3 electoral wards and Nkporo with 55,000 registered voters and also 3 electoral wards. We may also place in this context that during the 2023 general elections, whereas Ohafia South contributed about 10,000 votes for Labour Party and Alex Otti, Ohafia North could only put less than 2000 votes in the basket in the governorship election.
It is obvious that for Alex Otti to get it right, Ohafia South will pair with either Nkporo or Abiriba with Ohafia South producing the Chairman. This conclusion covets the fact that by 2027, Ohafia Udumaeze being in control of the local government will easily mobilize its huge demographic assets for Dr. Alex Otti to confront the other political parties.
Ohafia Ofurishi will be difficult to galvanize its electoral strength if it loses out in the game of the three brothers in the LGA. Ohafia Ofurishi places higher premium on the executive Chairmanship of the LGA more than a thousand political appointments. This particular message should please sink in. Dr. Alex Otti and his strategists may consider sending more political appointments to Abiriba and Nkporo to compensate for this very important political decision he may be compelled to take.
Any political permutations not privy to the above laid down considerations will be too costly for the 2027 reelection bid of Dr. Alex Otti. The issue is not about who has worked more for Ohafia but who will give Ohafia more political life and sense of belonging. It is hoped that as the Primary election of Labour Party commences, consideration should be given to the above permutations and game of numbers than any other primordial sentiment.
