THE REAL MATTERS: LET US SEPARATE FACTS FROM POLITICAL ALLEGATIONS
Recent claims concerning Governor Alex C. Otti, OFR, and the treatment of Ndi Ngwa deserve a response based on verifiable facts, not assumptions, rumours or repeated allegations.
Government will therefore address the real matters.
- THE ALLEGED STATEMENTS AGAINST NDI NGWA
The claim that Governor Alex Otti said Ndi Ngwa “do not have sense” remains an allegation.
Where is the authenticated audio?
Where is the video?
Where is the date, venue and full context?
Repeating an allegation several times does not transform it into evidence.
Similarly, statements made by Charles Ogbonnaya or any other individual cannot automatically be converted into the personal position of Governor Alex Otti without evidence that the Governor authorised, adopted or endorsed them.
That distinction matters.
- UMUEHIM: THE CLAIM THAT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE IS FALSE
The documentary records speak clearly.
At Umuehim Model School, Abia State procurement records contain three major projects with a combined value of approximately:
₦387.48 million.
They include:
- 18-classroom block and associated facilities — ₦284,960,750
- 700-metre perimeter fence, gatehouse and entrance landscaping — ₦51,171,025
- Headmaster’s and teachers’ quarters — ₦51,351,368

Therefore, the claim that government has done nothing in Umuehim apart from a road cannot stand against the procurement record.
- UMUEHIM AND NVOSI ROADS
On 25 May 2026, the Abia State Government recorded the commissioning of the:
Umunkpeyi–Okpokiri–Umuehim Road
and the:
Umuikama–Okpuala Nvosi Road.
These are identifiable public roads in the Ngwa area.

The historical project review also identifies the wider:
Umunkpeyi–Amaiyi–Okpokiri–Umuehim–Umuru Road — 9.5 kilometres.
That record is contained in the KPMG project review published by Abia State.
- HEALTHCARE IN NGWA LAND
The assertion that meaningful health infrastructure is absent from Ngwa communities ignores major projects already on record.
On 25 May 2026, the government commissioned the rebuilt Government Cottage Hospital in Isiala Ngwa South and commenced the reconstruction of the historic 100-bed Okpuala Ngwa General Hospital.
On 25 August 2026, Governor Alex Otti commissioned the Obingwa General Hospital.
These are not proposed projects on paper.
They are identifiable health institutions located in Ngwa communities.
- “NO MEANINGFUL PROJECTS IN NGWA LAND”?
That assertion is contradicted by identifiable projects across Aba, Obingwa, Osisioma, Isiala Ngwa North and Isiala Ngwa South.
The record includes projects such as:
- Umunkpeyi–Okpokiri–Umuehim Road
- Umuikama–Okpuala Nvosi Road
- Obingwa General Hospital
- Government Cottage Hospital, Isiala Ngwa South
- Reconstruction of Okpuala Ngwa General Hospital
- Port Harcourt Road, Aba
- Ohanku Road
- Omuma Road
- Obohia Road
- Cemetery Road
- Umule Road
- Umuocham Road
- Osisioma–Ekeakpara Road
A debate can legitimately be held over whether more should be done.
But saying that no meaningful projects exist is simply inconsistent with the physical and documentary record.
- CLAIMS OF EXCLUSION FROM GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENTS
The proper way to test an allegation of exclusion is through the complete appointments register, not through anecdotal examples.
The Government of Abia State publishes its cabinet and agency appointments publicly.
The current Executive Council includes officials across ministries such as Agriculture, Finance, Health, Justice, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Works, Transport, Power, Education, Labour and several others.
The state also publicly lists appointees heading authorities, agencies and commissions, including GADA, ASUBEB, ABSUTH, the Civil Service Commission, the Primary Healthcare system and other government organisations.

Anyone alleging systematic ethnic exclusion should publish a complete, verified classification of all appointments and demonstrate the alleged imbalance from the data.
- GREATER ABA DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
The leadership of GADA is also publicly available.
The state appointee register currently identifies Mr. Uche Ukeje as General Manager of the Greater Aba Development Authority.
An appointment alone does not prove an ethnic policy.
To establish deliberate marginalisation, evidence must show a systematic exclusionary policy, not merely disagreement over who occupies a particular office.
- OBINNA ORIAKU AND THE FEDERAL CHARACTER COMMISSION
The fact is that the Federal Character Commission is a Federal Government institution.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated the relevant representatives and subsequently transmitted changes to the Senate.
Anyone alleging that Governor Otti engineered the replacement of Obinna Oriaku must produce documentary evidence showing that the Governor requested, directed or procured the change.
The mere fact that a replacement occurred does not establish who caused it.
- THE ₦10 MILLION–₦13 MILLION LGA CLAIM
The allegation that Ngwa council chairmen receive hundreds of millions of naira but are permitted to spend only ₦10 million to ₦13 million monthly is an extremely specific financial accusation.
Such a claim requires equally specific evidence:
- council bank statements;
- FAAC schedules;
- treasury instructions;
- JAAC records;
- council payment mandates; or
- audited financial statements.
Without those records, a figure circulating as “rumour” should not be presented as established fact.
- OKPUALA NGWA
Okpuala Ngwa has also been specifically mentioned.
Yet on 25 May 2026, the government commenced reconstruction of the 100-bed Okpuala Ngwa General Hospital.
That is a substantial public health project situated in the very area being described as abandoned.
- OBI NGWA
On 25 August 2026, the reconstructed Obingwa General Hospital was formally commissioned.
The Governor’s official commissioning address records the project and the government’s health-sector intervention.

THE REAL QUESTION
Criticism of government is legitimate.
Questions about appointments, infrastructure, electricity, water, employment and representation are legitimate.
What is not legitimate as factual analysis is to begin with a conclusion and then treat rumours, unattributed quotations, assumptions and unanswered questions as proof of that conclusion.
The appropriate standard is simple:
For quotations, produce the recording.
For appointments, publish the complete appointment data.
For financial allegations, produce the financial records.
For infrastructure, identify the projects and inspect them physically.
For claims of marginalisation, demonstrate them using comprehensive evidence rather than selected examples.
The Abia State Government’s projects, appointments and public records are open to scrutiny.
There should be vigorous debate.
But that debate should be anchored on verifiable facts.
