A Nigerian man has stirred reactions online after sharing his controversial views on kidnapping and ransom payments, particularly when it involves a spouse.
Speaking in a viral street interview, the man stated that he would never pay ransom if kidnappers abducted any member of his family, including his wife.
“God forbid, but if they carry any of my family member, I no go pay ransom. If they carry my wife, I will not pay ransom. I will remarry,” he said.
He went further to explain that he would be unable to continue the marriage if his wife was sexually assaulted by her captors.
According to him, he could not accept being with a woman after another man had slept with her, even if the act was forced.
“If bandits take advantage of my woman and force themselves on her, I will not take that woman back. Please forgive me,” he added.
His comment has raised strong arguments online amidst ravaging kidnapping and ransom payment in Nigeria.
