Justice For Wendy: Two Men Arrested For R@ping And K¡lling Owerri Nursing Student
Two suspects have reportedly been arrested in connection with the tragic death of Wendy Achumba, a nursing student whose decapitated body was discovered in her hostel room in Umulogho Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to reports, the suspects confessed to repeatedly raping the victim before taking her life to prevent her from identifying or reporting them.
Wendy, who hailed from Abia State, was a student of the College of Nursing in Umuadara village, Umulogho Community.
She had reportedly completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic training at the institution before her tragic death.
Sources within the community revealed that neighbours became worried after she failed to come out of her room or respond to repeated knocks on Thursday evening.
After forcing the door open, they discovered her lifeless and mutilated body inside the room. Her mobile phone was also said to be missing.
Reports also stated that the room was locked from the inside before her body was discovered.
The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Henry Okoye, who stated that officers visited the scene after receiving reports of the killing. Her body was later evacuated to a mortuary while investigations commenced.
The tragic case has continued to generate reactions online, with many Nigerians demanding swift justice for Wendy Achumba and stricter punishment for perpetrators of violence against women.
