Much Ado About President Tinubu’s Abia Visit: A Testament to Otti’s Integrity and A Sting to the Wicked

To the great and resilient people of Abia, both at home and in the diaspora, who stand tall and see with clear eyes, this message is for you.

In the face of the recent political drama and the orchestrated noise from sinking quarters, one fact rings out with the clarity of a bell in the Umuahia morning: Abia’s Treasury is not for sale, and will never be, from 2023 – 2031 and beyond.

The so-called “snub” of Governor Alex Otti by President Bola Tinubu is not a story of a governor being shunned; it is a testament to a leader so focused on his work that he refuses to be drawn into the shallow politics of patronage and submission. While the opposition, who should cover their faces in shame, cackles with manufactured glee, they miss the profound truth unfolding before them.

Governor Otti, in his characteristic wisdom and integrity, has always maintained a posture of respect and constructive engagement with the President. He spoke of a long-standing friendship and direct access—a statement from a place of maturity, not fear. He understands that true governance is about developing your state, not about staging photo-ops to appease a political godfather. The desperate attempts to paint his civility as cowardice only reveal the poverty of thought of his detractors.

Let us be clear: Abians are not fools. We have seen this movie before. We remember the governors who frequented Abuja, not to attract development, but to secure personal protection while our commonwealth was looted bare. We remember the “political calculations” that left our roads as death traps and our hospitals as mortuaries. We have exchanged that era of wanton looting for a God-given opportunity for redemption, and we will not go back.

Look around you! While the opposition is obsessed with who lands in Abia, Governor Otti is ensuring that Abia lands on the world map. The $1.3 billion Abia Medical City, the revolutionary Aba Power Project, the commissioning of not one, but thirteen quality roads—these are not mere projects; they are the foundations of a new Abia. They are the reasons Abians in diaspora are standing tall with pride, their hope in their homeland restored.

The special relationship Governor Otti has is not with any individual in Abuja; his sacred covenant is with the people of Abia. It is a relationship built on tangible progress, transparent accountability, and an unwavering commitment to the public good. This is the relationship that secures his seat, not any pilgrimage to Bourdillon or Aso Rock.

So, to the opposition elements laughing at a missed visit, we ask: What are your achievements? What legacy of loot do you have to show that can compare to a single kilometre of the newly built Port Harcourt Road? Your laughter is the sound of shame, a pitiful echo from a past we have consciously chosen to leave behind.

Governor Alex Otti was not reduced by the President’s absence; he was elevated. He demonstrated that the dignity of Abia State is not negotiable. He proved that he would rather be in Abuja celebrating the excellence of his Attorney-General being honoured as a SAN than engaging in political gymnastics for a visit that adds no concrete value to the lives of our people.

Abia is moving forward, with or without the endorsement of those who presided over its decay. We have a governor who is a star by his own making, shining the light of progress on our state. Let the petty politicians continue their much ado about nothing. Our focus is unwavering—on the work, the progress, and the future.

Abia’s treasury is secure. Our governor is focused. Our people are wise. And this divine opportunity for restoration will not be exchanged for anything. We stand with Alex Otti.
