IKENNA UKWA CELEBRATES 40TH BIRTHDAY WITH INMATES OF MEDIUM SECURITY CUSTODIAL CENTRE, AROCHUKWU
Still on his usual way of extending love to all and sundry and in commemoration of his 40th birthday celebration today Saturday 22nd February 2025, the Senior Legislative Aide to The Senate President – Nigeria , Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa stormed the Nigerian Correctional Service, Medium Security Custodial Centre, Arochukwu to celebrate with inmates with food, drinks and toiletries, targeting more than 100 inmates.
Mr Nobert Okechukwu Ajike who led the team on behalf of the celebrant was received by the General Supervisor of the Facility, ACC V.E Onyemulu, ably represented by the Facility Chaplain, Mr. Okechukwu Kalu.
Mr Onyemulu appreciated Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa for coming and expressed a great sense of relief that the facility has been remembered for good through him.
He went further to state that the facility is a 180 capacity Custodial Centre which currently has a total of 1 female and 79 male inmates with 20 convicts and 60 awaiting trials.
The Facility General Supervisor , however, reeled out some of the challenges the facility is facing which includes, logistics for movement of inmates to court which delays their trials, lack of funds for the repair of an already existing vehicle which he said has been assessed to cost N60,000, insufficient bed due to large number of inmates, fumigation of the facility, provision of mosquito nets, non-conducive worship hall and a fine of N200,000 for an inmate which is required for his release.
He appealed to Hon. Ikenna Nicholas Ukwa and other good spirited Nigerians to come to their aid in solving some of the challenges listed above.
Finally, Mr Okechukwu kalu prayed to God to continue to bless and enrich Chief Ikenna Ukwa for his thoughtfulness and generosity, which he described as unprecedented, adding that he would inform ACC V.E Onyemulu (General supervisor of the facility) about the birthday visit and the items brought so that they will write officially to appreciate him for his act of kindness to the Medium Custodian Center, Arochukwu in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State.
