Our Man for Ohafia LGA Council Chairman:
His Noble Honor, Chief Eze Eke JP. PhD ( Gburugburu) as we know him hails from Amaekpu Ohafia in Ohafia LGA of Abia State.
Gburugburu’s strong desire and interest to serve his people dates back in the third Republic when he joined the First Political Players/Pioneers of Abia State Politics who showcased their potentials and willingness to develop Abia as God’s own State. Chief Eke PhD , demonstrated his genuine act by being actively involved in political activities and contested for Federal House of Representatives, Ohafia Federal Constituency under the Platform of National Republican Convention(NRC) in 1992. Though the mandate to serve was denied from him.
Chief Eze Eke PhD Contemporaries/ Colleagues at that time were:
(1) Chief Dr Orji Uzo Kalu(MON) who has served as two times Governor of Abia State and currently the Distinguished Senator, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
(2) Chief Ojo Maduekwe(late), three times Minister and Nigerian Ambassador to Canada.
(3) Engr. Senator Onyeka A. Okorafor who was elected a Senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria.
(4) Rt. Hon. Prince Arua Arunsi, first Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and later became a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
(5) Dr. Chidia Maduekwe who elected a member of federal House of Representatives, served as member Fed. Character Commission etc. just to mention but a few.
In 2007, Chief Eze Eke JP contested for the Chairmanship position of Ohafia LGA. At the primary election, three contestants were involved,
High Chief Uche Ogboso,
Eld. Bucknor A. A. Onuha. and his humble self.
Again, Chief Eke won the primary election but the Party position said the position had been ceded to Ania Ward. As a party loyalist, Chief Eke had to succumb to the decision of the party as supreme joined Chief Uche Ogboso’s campaign team, worked relentlessly that brought victory to Chief Ogboso to be sworn in as the Executive Chairman of Ohafia LGA.
In 2010, His Noble Honor, Chief Eze Eke PhD joined hands with eminent Nigerians to canvass and advocated for good governance and strongly supported the presidential ambition of Dr Good luck Jonathan. In his wide campaign, Gburugburu made national Newspapers publications prominent amongst them was published on Sunday Sunday Newspaper, page 26 on 26th October 2010, titled “Why Igbo should Support Jonathan”
His Noble Honor, Deacon Eze Eke JP. has attended many seminars, workshops and conventions and presented papers/meno at different occasions amongst which are:
(a) A memo titled ” My new Vision for Ohafia in the 21st Century” .
The paper was presented and circulated during the Ohafia Day/receiving Eld. Uke Ogbu as the Union Bank Chairman, organized by Ohafia Improvement Union(OIU) held in Lagos on 28th Nov. 1998.
(b) A paper presentation titled: ” Ohafia Udumeze in the Ohafia Local Government Area” on the occasion of Ohafia Udumeze Lecture at Udumeze Hall, Elu Ohafia on 25th Dec. 1998.
(c) At different occasions of the inauguration of National Anti Volunteers Corps of Independent Corrupt Practices and related Offences Commission (ICPC), His Honor Eke PhD has presented papers on the following:
i. Corruption and it’s effects on Students both in and out of Schools.
ii. Peace and harmonious existence, an instrument of Development.
At this point, it is important to note that His Noble Honor, Chief Eke JP. has some viable qualities attached to his personality as following:
*A graduate of Town and Regional Planning and a member of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP)
*Holds PgD, Msc in Peace and Conflict Resolution.
*PhD in Strategic Studies and Leadership.
*A Certified Mediator and a Fellow, International Institute of Mediators.
*Served as many times Senior Personal Assistant to the past Governors of Abia State.
*A Believer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and an Ordained Deacon in the House of God.
*Sworn in as the Justice of Peace (JP) by the Abia State Government at the High Court of Justice, Umuahia.
*Several Excellent Awards in Humanity by different Organizations.
Honored in both local and International Communities.
The above information for His Noble Honor is to sincerely let you know that Eze Eke is a personality whose pre occupation for a very long time has been concerned with the struggle for the upliftment of human dignity.
He is in the race for Ohafia Council Chairman under the platform of Labour Party and should be voted to serve us better.
