NANCES Calls For Immediate Reversal Of Petrol Price, Mobilizes For Nationwide Action
LThe National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) has called for the immediate rescind of the recently reviewed price of the Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol.
In a statement released on Wednesday, 4th September 2024, Comrade Kur Isaac Ushahemba, the Senate President of the organization, said the obnoxious increment of PMS will translate to more inflation, making it impossible for the Nigerian masses to survive.
“We are wary that despite the humongous spending on Nigeria’s four refineries, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) still finds it difficult to make them operational for the overall benefits of the overstretched citizens.”

“At a critical moment for this nation, a time when the Nigerian people are facing uncertainties and challenges due to government economic reforms, it is disheartening to see the NNPCL burdening its people with such exorbitant fuel prices. This is against the mission of energy security, which includes accessibility, affordability, and availability,” Ushahemba noted.
The apex body for all Nigerian colleges of education students further urged their teeming members to prepare for a brainstorming exercise, stating that the leadership will, in no distant time, make available its action plan for massive picketing of the NNPCL to buttress their demand.
