Re: Election Of Nnaka IV Of Okon-Aku: Refutal/My Position – Deacon David ikpo PhD; Contestant

Our Community Okon-aku made up of 26 Communities, has been held by the jugular for decades, by a particular Compound and few cronies of theirs.

Our Traditional Rulers (Ezeogo and Nnaka) had died for long, leaving only the President General (PG) Mr Mmecha Umeh to run the general affairs of the Community, until he went and stole from EREI and got detained by the Government and he’s currently facing Criminal Charges.

A Committee was set up that organised the Election which produced Chief Engr Ndukwe Iko as Nnaka IV of Okon-aku Autonomous Community, an exercise I took part in as one of the Contestants after which I, alongside other two Contestants, congratulated the Winner and pledged to work with him to reposition our already battered Community.

To our greatest shock, this embattled, unpopular PG, petitioned to the Governor, to nullify the Election, making all sorts of frivolous claims and unfounded allegations of irregularities (meanwhile he was not at the venue of the election or part of the process.
The fact remains that he has been struggling clandestinely to install one Anyaele Mmecha as Nnaka IV, but the Community resisted all his plots.

Now, the Government he petitioned to, convened several meetings of the Community’s Stakeholders, the PG and their phantom Aspirant in attendance and it was resolved that a rerun election be held on Friday at the Ohafia LGA Secretariat, which resolution all Stakeholders, including Mmecha signed, the Okon-aku Autonomous Community Chieftaincy Constitution, did not state that the selection or election of Nnaka should be at Okon-aku Town Hall or the Caommunity.

So, out of 26 Compounds, only one and few indisciples of peace, in their notoriety, went to put up a show of shame at the Ohafia LGA Secretariat in the name of protest against a resolution their Liar PG signed.

Thank God the experienced Mayor of Ohafia LGA, responded properly to them.
