Northern Youths Group Knocks Alhaji Atiku For Blackmailing Seyi Tinubu

The Northern Youth Initiative for Peace and Good Governance has taken note of a statement attributed to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election and former Vice President of Nigeria, linking Mr. Seyi Tinubu to Hitech construction company, the company responsible for the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

In a statement released by Mr. Paul Ibe, the Special Adviser to the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar alleged that the swift awarding of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway construction contract to Hitech group was influenced by Mr. Seyi Tinubu’s position as a board member of CDK, a tiles and sanitary towels manufacturing company which he claims is affiliated with the Chagoury family.

We feel it is important to inform the general public that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a perennial loser in presidential elections, has not yet recovered from his defeat in the 2023 general election. Consequently, he is determined to tarnish the reputation of the Tinubu family.

It should be noted that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project was conceived during the tenure of Goodluck Jonathan, later restructured, and approved by the Federal Executive Council under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. Therefore, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR recognized the significance of the project for the country’s development and provided the impetus to undertake it.

It is crucial for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to understand that Mr. Seyi Tinubu has been serving on the board of CDK since 2018. At that time, the idea of his father running for Nigeria’s top position had not yet emerged. Therefore, the claims made by the former Vice President are inconsequential and merely an attempt to blackmail Seyi Tinubu.

During his tenure as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Economic Council, the Wazirin Adamawa maintained his business connections with Intels, which secured significant port concession deals.

For the purpose of enlightening the unsuccessful politician, it should be clarified that the Chagourys are minority shareholders in the company, and only one member of the family sits on its five-man board. General TY Danjuma (rtd) serves as the Chairman of CDK and is the largest shareholder in the company. We urge Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to refrain from this smear campaign against the Family of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
