LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY GRANTS SCHOLARSHIP TO 27 CANDIDATES, COMMENDS OTTI FOR PROVIDING CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT
LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY, the first university on the soil of Umuahia has granted tuition free education to 27 prospective students from its host communities of Umuahia and Oboro.
The Registrar of LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY, Mrs. Blessing Ibebunjo disclosed this in an interview with news men at the school premises in Ndagbo, Isiama Afaraukwu, Umuahia North LGA.
Mrs. Ibebunjo disclosed that the beneficiaries would be studying in the 12 departments across the 3 faculties of Law, Management Sciences and Arts & Social Sciences of the LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY. She informed that the scholarship was part of the social corporate responsibility of LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY, adding that it is a way of giving back to the society, especially, the people of the host communities.
The Registrar, who advised the benefiting students to be up and doing and not to toil with the privilege of scholarship extended to them by the institution, announced that, based on request by prospective students, the University Senate Scholarship Committee has approved that a second phase of the exams for the scholarship be conducted in the nearest future. She appreciated the conducive environment provided by Governor Alex Otti for the school to run and commended his giant strides in various sectors of the economy.
“It is part of our social responsibility to give back to the society, especially the host community. A lot of people are even begging for us to have a second phase of the exam so that those who couldn’t come in to the first phase can now come into the second phase and the scholarship board has magnanimously approved that the second phase of the exam should be taken in the nearest future. The time and the date will be announced to them on air.
“The moment we got the license, we first took it to present to him (Gov. Otti) as the number one citizen of this state and he was very happy. He pledged to support the school. He wants the best for Abia state. He encouraged us and said that he would help us to make sure the school stands . That’s what he is doing for every sector. So, we are very very happy for his developmental strides in Abia state.”
She assured that the school would give the best to the students as it has a seren environment, quality lecturers, best of facilities with well equipped e-library , conducive hostel accommodation, 24 hours solar powered light and adequate security, adding that they want to produce students who would not be influenced by negative vices in the society.
Also, the Chairman, LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY 2023/2024 Scholarship Committee and Dean of Social Sciences of the school, Professor Paul Mbakwe said that the beneficiaries of the scholarship emerged from communities in Umuahia and Oboro-Ikwuano as well as others who were born in Umuahia.
Professor Mbakwe, who revealed that the criteria considered in selecting the beneficiaries of the scholarship included taking exams by indigenes of the host communities, who wrote JAMB for 2023/2024 academic session, assured parents that the school parades the best safety architecture in terms of university location in Nigeria and advised the incoming students to be dedicated to their studies as they are coming to be trained in character and learning.
“It was a very free and fair examination and the people did well and they have been awarded the scholarship. They have to come and start registering and begin their studies.
“We want to give back to the community. So, all eligible candidates of this community that wrote the JAMB for the 2023/2024 academic session and scored a good mark , the benchmark acceptable by JAMB . Though we went beyond the indigenes and considered also people that were born in Umuahia.”
In their reactions, some students of LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY including Chinyere Chukwuemeka of the Law Department, Marycynthia Okeke of Public Administration Department and Ambassador Olu of International Relations & Diplomacy said that LUX MUNDI UNIVERSITY is the best place to acquire tertiary education as the school makes learning easy in every aspect of it.
They said that the conducive environment, constant water supply, 24 hours light, security among others make their institution the best, adding that their experiences have been wonderful.
