NAPTIP Arrests Two Suspects For Allegedly Selling 3-Month-Old Baby For N2 Million

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested two women in connection with the alleged sale of a 3-month-old baby for N2 million in Ekiti State.

Following a tip-off, the arrests were made in collaboration with the Ekiti State Liaison Office.

The suspects were identified as Ifeoma Ejide, who allegedly sold the baby, and Mrs Funmilayo Ibitoye, who was suspected of buying the baby for N2 million.

The operation was carried out by NAPTIP operatives, led by Mr. Emuze John from NAPTIP Headquarters, along with local officers.

During the investigation, Ejide reportedly confessed to being involved in a baby factory, while Ibitoye denied the allegations, claiming to have delivered the baby at Ejide’s house in Owo, Ondo State.

She stated that she had been paying for herbs through transfers and had been waiting for a baby for 25 years.

The arrested suspects are expected to face legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in the illicit sale of a baby.
