Northerners Should Not Forget In A Hurry That They Held Defense Position For Eight Years Without Result
Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has stated that it is within the constitutional rights of Northern leaders to criticize and hold President Bola Tinubu accountable for the security situation in the region, as reported by Sahara Reporters.
He made this statement in response to a report by Sahara Reporters, which highlighted a drone attack that inadvertently affected civilians during a Maulud celebration in the region.
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and Jamatul Nasril Islam (JNI) expressed sadness over the military airstrike at Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna that killed scores of people and left 66 others injured.
They called for a thorough investigation into the bombing incident as well as compensation for the victims.
Amnesty International confirmed that there could be more who lost their lives in the incident.
The social critic, Sani reminded Northern leaders that Northerners held all the key security and defense positions in Nigeria for eight years but failed to end the scourge of killings and kidnappings in the region.
He also noted that former President Muhammadu Buhari spent trillions of naira on security but there was no result for the huge spending.
Sani stated that Northern leaders have the constitutional right to criticize the President and hold him accountable for the security situation in the North, but it is too early to forget the past.
“Trillions wasted with no result, and the then President kept extending their tenure in office.”
