Human Capital Development, our key Focal Point———Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu.
The Deputy Governor of Abia State Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu has emphasized the State Government’s readiness to invest in Human Capital Development as one of the key points of Dr. Alex Otti’s led administration.
He disclosed this during the Official Inauguration of the Abia State Human Capacity Development Council at the Deputy Governor’s office, Government House, Umuahia.
The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planing, Hon Kingsley Anosike in his speech explained that the council is targeted at increasing investment on the people, to improve the human capital indices of the State and the Country.
The Honourable commissioner outlined the key responsibilities of the Human Capital Development Council as follows;
1.Selecting Priority outcome and identify viable intervention programs.
2.Developing HCD implementing Structures and action plans, linked to the National and Sub-National Development Plans.
3.Committed to incorporate its HCD action plan into State Budgeting.
4.Set up M & E Structures and possibly including NGOs, CSOs, etc.
The Deputy Governor in his response charged the newly inaugurated council members not to relent in the discharge of their duties, he expressed believe in the competence and credibility of the members, while reassuring them that with the political will of the Executive Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, there is no doubt that the Human Capital Development agenda and programs in the State will be seamlessly executed to achieve the desired result.
The Members of the council present at the inauguration were; Commissioner for Finance Mr Mike Akpara, Commissioner for Education, Hon. Mrs Uche Eme Uche, Hon. Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba.
