2023: Abaribe opens up on collecting money from Wike not to leave PDP

Former Deputy Governor of Abia State and Deputy Senate Chief Whip, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, has said he was never involved in any bribery matter with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

AttNews reports that speaking at the flag-off of the Abia governorship campaign and other elective positions in Umuahia on Thursday, Wike urged the people of Abia South not to vote for the Senator in 2023, saying a person who lacks integrity cannot represent them.

He said Abaribe came to him earlier this year, threatening to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and when asked what he wanted, he said he needs funds.

Reacting, Abaribe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), said Governor Wike didn’t give him money.

“No, he did not give me any money. And I can’t remember anytime I sat with Governor to discuss leaving or not leaving PDP,” Abaribe told Arise News.
