The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, on Monday marked six residential houses and one plaza belonging to the embattled former Intelligence Response Team leader, Abba Kyari, in Maiduguri as being under investigation. The two-storey shopping plaza, Assurance Plaza, located along the Giwa Barracks Road in Maiduguri, has about 100 stores. Six other residential houses within the Maiduguri New Government Residential Area allegedly belonging to the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police had also been marked NDLEA. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested Chief Afam Ukatu, who it described as the billionaire drug baron behind the N3bn tramadol deal involving a suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police and former leader of the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari. Court strikes out Kyari’s suit against NDLEA

A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, dismissed a fundamental enforcement rights suit filed by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. Justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the suit after counsel for the NDLEA, Joseph Sunday, prayed the court that the matter be struck out. When the matter was called, Cynthia Ikena, lawyer to Kyari, was absent. Sunday, NDLEA’s Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, urged the court to strike out the suit.
