OHAFIA TO HOLD MEGA RECEPTION FOR GOV. OTTI NOV 18
The Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, Abia State’s third largest city, is planning to hold the biggest social gathering ever on its soil in honour of Governor Alex Otti.
The programme tagged ‘Ohafia Grand Reception for Governor Alex Otti’ is scheduled for November 18 at Elu Ohafia, the ancestral headquarters of the 26-community clan.
The Reception Planning Committee was constituted by the Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU), the clan’s apex socio-cultural organisation, and comprises prominent sons and daughters of the community. It announced the schedule on Tuesday after a consultative meeting with state government officials.
Committee Chairman, Mr Uduma Okoro Kalu, said the reception was informed by the governor’s exemplary stewardship, which the Ohafia people were impressed with and subsequently resolved to host him, thank him and encourage him to do more.
The OIU listed the reasons to include:
- Fiscal discipline that had eluded the state
- Hundreds of kilometres of road construction
- Transformation of Umuahia from a neglected “glorified village” into a modern and organized city
- Revamped public schools and health centres
- Shuttle buses for affordable transport.
