The Nkole We Believe In…We Rally Around (Part 2)
One vital thing that matters to me, as well as most discerning minds are the objectives pursued by most people, especially political leaders. The aims, objectives and agendas pursued by a political leader affects the way the people from the wider world perceive the led…the constituents. It affects the way people from other climes view or define you. Whether you are in the community, in the city, in the diaspora and any place at all, most times, your friends, colleagues, associates and those that know you well always place you from the standpoint, most times, of the people who represent you, speak for you or take certain decisions on your behalf. Many a time, friends and colleagues make jest of you or take a playful swipe at you, even though you are sound in mind and good at what you do, just because of the actions or standpoint or opinion, or even path taken by someone, a ‘supposed’ leader representing and speaking for you. The shame about it is that such misrepresentation are aired publicly on various national and international television and widely circulated on the various print and online media. This, often times, makes sane persons from other climes wonder if that represents the best such zone can offer.
My worry here centers around our zone…Abia North Senatorial Zone…a zone that parades erudite professors and educators, astute business men and women, successful industrialists and people who have distinguished themselves both nationally and globally in one area of life or the another. Our zone…that parades vocal, distinguished and credible political figures. Such a people’s image should not be soiled because of the actions of the person leading them or representing their voice at the Red Chambers, in particular, or any other political level, in general. Abia North constituents should not always bow their heads in shame because of the actions, activities and utterances of a single individual whose personal political pursuits and desires are mistaken for that of the generality of the constituents.
That is why I am of the opinion that the great and educated people of Abia North should look the way of one of our best eleven…Rt Hon Uko Ndukwe Nkole, who, by all standards, has shown the charisma, pedigree, humility and capacity to, not only represent Abia North credibly, but also give voice and pride to the zone at the Red Chamber.
Obviously, he proved to understand the tides of Nigerian legislative politics as well as how to swim with the political sharks. He understands the implications of one man carrying the voices of a great people.
It is on this premise that I call for a total support for Rt Hon Nkole, a servant with the desired experience, humility and wisdom to serve our people of Abia North Zone at the Senate. We got to get it right this time…and we got to field one of our best eleven. We got to field Rt Hon Uko Ndukwe Nkole.
