Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, a prominent stakeholder and State Vice Chairman North of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dr. Mbah Imoh Uduma, has called on all sons and daughters of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency to rise above party sentiments and elect Honourable Chief Nicholas Ikenna Ukwa as their next representative.
Addressing a well-attended press conference in Ohafia, Chief Uduma said the press conference was not a partisan gathering, but a call to conscience for the entire constituency.
“This is not about APC, NDC, PDP, APGA or Labour Party. This is about Ohafia and Arochukwu. This is about our mothers who cannot afford hospital bills, our children who need better schools, and our youths who need opportunities. We need a man who has already shown he cares, not one with many promises, not one with wasted opportunities and definitely not one who will start learning after election,” he stated.
Chief Uduma presented Chief Nicholas Ikenna Ukwa as a bridge-builder who is widely accepted across both local governments and whose humanitarian footprint predates his political ambition.
Why Chief Nicholas Ikenna Ukwa ? – A Record of Service
The APC chieftain outlined five key areas where Chief Ukwa has distinguished himself:
- HEALTH CARE INTERVENTIONS : Through the Nicholas Ikenna Ukwa Foundation, Chief Ukwa has sponsored several free medical outreaches covering over 15 communities in Ohafia and Arochukwu, providing free eye care, free drugs, medical screening and surgical interventions for indigent and elderly citizens.
- SOCIAL AMENITIES : He has facilitated/attracted the installation of NNDC powered street lights across various communities in Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, palliative work and grading of several roads including the last one at isu. Supported security and economic activities in many communities and rural markets.
- EDUCATION SUPPORT : Chief Ukwa has attracted the construction of a classroom block at federal government College Ohafia, donated desks, textbooks, school bags and uniforms to primary/secondary schools within the constituency and provided scholarships/registration of WAEC and JAMB for indigent students across the constituency.
- HUMANITARIAN & YOUTH EMPOWERMENT : He has sponsored skill acquisition programs through out the constituency, embarked on massive empowerment for people of Arochukwu Ohafia federal constituency. He is known for his consistent support for widows, small business owners, apprenticeship empowerment for youths, and prompt response to individual community distress.
- SPORTS DEVELOPMENT : Chief Nicholas Ukwa has consistently promoted and sponsored football tournaments and talent hunts across Arochukwu and Ohafia local governments.
“Arochukwu/Ohafia is a constituency of warriors, intellectuals and great entrepreneurs. We cannot afford to send a weak voice to the National Assembly. We need a strong, humane, accessible and proven voice. Chief Nicholas Ikenna Ukwa is that voice. He will not go to Abuja to represent a party; he will go to represent all of us,” Chief Uduma added.
He therefore appealed to traditional rulers, community leaders, women groups, youth organizations, religious bodies and all eligible voters in Arochukwu/Ohafia to unite behind Chief Ukwa in the interest of the constituency’s development.
“We must put our constituency first. Let us choose competence over sentiments. Let us choose character over empty promises. Let us make the right choice,” he concluded.
