Peter Obi Is Not A True Igbo Man, He Can’t Lift Nigeria Out Of Poverty – Yul Edochie
Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has launched an attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his leadership credentials and identity as an Igbo man.
Edochie said Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, is “not a true Igbo man” and lacks leadership qualities.
He further claimed that Obi has not been able to lift his own family out of poverty, arguing that he would therefore be unable to lift Nigeria out of poverty if elected president.
In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, Edochie said, “He does not have the spirit of Ndi Igbo in him.
“He’s not a leader. The true spirit of Ndi Igbo is ‘onye aghana nwanne ya’. As you rise, you lift others.”
To justify his point, Edochie said, “How can you spend many years in power, many years as a successful businessman, yet nobody can say he’s successful today because of you. You can’t even lift your family members.”
Presenting himself more impactful than Obi, Edochie said, “In Nollywood, there are people who will tell you they’re successful today because of Yul Edochie.
“Not one person can say that about Peter Obi. Are you a sadist? What are you doing with the power God has given you?
“If you can’t lift people around you out of poverty, you simply can’t lift Nigeria out of poverty.”
Obi, one of Nigeria’s opposition figures, enjoys a strong support base, particularly among young Nigerians and people of the South-East region of the country.
Meanwhile, Edochie is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
