APPLY NOW: FG Opens Application For Second Cohort Of N22,500 Monthly TVET Stipend

The Federal Government has opened applications for the second cohort of its flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, as part of ongoing efforts to equip Nigerian youth with practical skills for job creation, entrepreneurship, and national development.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Folasade Boriowo.

According to the ministry, applications for the new cohort commenced on Monday, April 13, 2026, inviting interested Nigerians to enrol in the nationwide skills development initiative aimed at strengthening technical capacity and addressing unemployment.

Minister of Education, Olatunji Alausa, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to human capital development, describing the TVET Programme as a strategic intervention designed to empower young Nigerians with industry-relevant skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflecting the administration’s determination to expand access to skills-based education while promoting sustainable livelihoods across the country.

“In strengthening this programme, the Federal Government is investing in the productive capacity of our youth. By providing practical training and recognised certification, we are creating pathways for self-employment, innovation, and long-term economic growth,” the minister said.

As part of efforts to broaden opportunities in emerging sectors, the Federal Ministry of Education is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism to enhance training in creative and cultural trades.

According to the statement, the partnership is expected to unlock the potential of Nigeria’s creative economy while expanding employment opportunities for young people.

Boriowo explained that the programme offers intensive six-month and one-year hands-on training in accredited centres across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

She revealed that participants will receive a monthly stipend of N22,500 throughout the training period and will be awarded nationally recognised certification upon successful completion.

“Training will cover a wide range of high-demand sectors, including construction, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), automotive technology, creative media, agriculture, fashion and garment production, cosmetology, tourism and hospitality, catering services, and leather works, among others.

“Applicants are required to demonstrate a strong commitment to learning practical skills and must be available for full participation throughout the training period.

“To ensure transparency and accountability, attendance will be monitored through biometric verification systems, with stipends paid only to trainees who meet attendance requirements. Applicants will also be required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) during registration.

“Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications through the official TVET portal: www.tvet.education.gov.ng,” the statement added.

The ministry urged all eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the initiative to acquire market-relevant skills that promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and economic productivity, as the Federal Government continues to prioritise youth empowerment nationwide.
