
PROMISE MADE, PROMISE KEPT AS CONTRACTOR COMPLETES THE INSTALLATION OF SOLAR POWERED STREET LIGHTS IN AROCHUKWU, ATTRACTED BY IKENNA UKWA
Today, Thursday 5th June 2025, the contractor handling the installation of solar powered street lights in Obinkita Arochukwu, in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State, Kaplan Consults limited, attracted by Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa through the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has completed the project.
The solar-powered street lights project which is part of the NDDC’s efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance safety in the region covers the Akama New Market and Timber road, the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Obinkita axis and Obinkita Arochukwu and its environs.

Recall that, Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa during the meeting he held with the APC stakeholders in Isimkpu Town Hall, Arochukwu on 20th April 2025 broke the cheering news to the community; and on 22nd May 2025, the NDDC officials from Abia State stormed the Obinkita community to perform the official handing over of the project site to the contractor, who later commenced work on Friday 29th May 2025.
And today, the installation of 233 units of 100 watts, 8 meters high solar-powered street lights in Obinkita community, Arochukwu has been completed.







While the installation of the solar-powered street lights is expected to improve safety, enhance security, and promote economic activities in the area, this project further demonstrates Ikenna Ukwa’s commitment to bringing development to his people and his vision for a brighter future for Arochukwu and Ohafia communities
Reacting to this development, Chief Ukwa has expressed overwhelming gratitude to the NDDC for approving the project, the contractor for keeping to his promise of completing the project within the time frame and the Obinkita community for granting the contractor the enabling environment to carry out the work seamlessly and successfully.
Chief Ikenna Ukwa further disclosed that more communities will benefit from his efforts, as he works tirelessly to set up developmental plans that will cater to the needs of the people.
