OHAFIA LGA IS IN THE NEWS AGAIN FOR THE RIGHT REASONS.

A widely read and reputable news publication Rootswatch magazine is preparing to give awards to deserving local governments and their chairmen via the 2025 version of their annual merit awards.

Our indefatigable mayor Chief Eleanya O. Kalu who is in a dizzying hurry to make and leave his mark is rightly and deservedly one of the nominees for assessment for the coveted prize.

Agriculture:
Within the first 100 days of his administration, the mayor has put in place a crowd ranching implementation program across the three communities making up his LGA. This is a far reaching well thought through strategy aimed at ready availability of livestock and its derivatives at very cheap and affordable prices to the low income earners in the rural and urban areas.
He has also followed up this revolutionary move with an agro summit aimed at sensitizing the local populace to embrace crop and animal farming with the active support and assistance of the local government council.
Security.
The mayor has quickly employed his networking and interpersonal skills to bring about a perfect synergy between all security agencies in the LGA to battle, contain and most importantly prevent breakdown of law and order. Today Ohafia LGA is the safest in Abia state and beyond.
Transportation.
Here again, the mayor has been visionary in tackling this department. Apart from setting up intra city transportation services in the three communities of Ohafia, Nkporo and Abiriba as early as December 2024, he has gone ahead to set up a transportation committee that is currently in the process of acquiring a fleet for intra and inter city transit.
