Honorable Ibe Okwara Osonwa’s Smart School Initiative is Truly a Gamechanger.
It didn’t come entirely as a surprise that the launching of the Ofali Agwu smart School project initiated by Honorable Ibe Okwara Osonwa today, 26th of November, commanded such a full house of attendees of the state ruling class. The Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, his deputy, the local government Chairman, Commissioner for Education, development partners, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders were all present to witness the first digital smart school to dorn the Abia landscape.
We need not overemphasize the importance of digital ICT learning in today’s digital age. Education today has completely transformed into digital systems implying that entire curriculum must be redefined to be in touch with modern technology learning and digital inclusivity. Not to be ICT or digitally informed is to operate outside the realm of modern trends and civilization.
School curriculums today are dominated by Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics(STEM) teaching and skill up programs in order to be abreast with the digital world and age. Development has also been dominated by nations that have made more progress in these fields.
It is highly commendable that the Federal House member, Honorable Ibe Okwara Osonwa took up this pet project and piloted it to its logical conclusion thereby paving the way for digital learning for others to follow. Its no surprise also that the eagle eyes of the governor, Dr. Alex Otti who desires and loves our Abia to be first to land in Jupiter has taken a holistic notice of this game changing project and is keying into it.
Dr. Alex Otti’s promise to replicate the smart School concept around the state will no doubt take Abia to the moon of our technological advancement in this clime. This will certainly make the dream of Abia as the technological hub of the Southeast come through. It will become a win win for everybody.
A smart School with the full compliment of digital learning tools like digital boards, computer labs, internet access, uninterrupted solar power systems will certainly reshape and resharpen the cerebral and intellectual image of the Ohafia mien that emphasized firsts in educational pursuits. Our destiny as a people will come back to our collective tight grip if we can rededicate ourselves to the STEM learning culture through this digital foray conceptualized by the smart school Initiative.
