Rev. Father Hassan Kukah’s Call to Unity: A pragmatic solution for Abia State after the Nov 2 LGA elections, and Swearing in of Mayors

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, has made a compelling call to unity, urging Nigerians to put aside their differences and move forward, stating that the worst times in the country’s history are over. He emphasized this on Tuesday in Abuja during the public presentation of the book titled: “Judicial Terrorism – A Macabre Trial and Death Sentences on Some Atvap (Kataf) People”. The Vanguard News reports that the book was written in honour of retired Maj Gen. Zamani Lekwot, by Richard Akinnola. The report went further to narrate that Bishop Kukah posited that many issues arose in the country because many citizens do not understand what it means to be without a nation.

Father Hassan did not hesitate to draw the attention of Nigerians to Gaza and Lebanon, asking them to stop turning against each other.

After a bitter sweet political and territorial battle that culminated to the Nov 2nd Abia LGA elections, and subsequent swearing in of the new 17 Mayors, Bishop Kukah’s message is equally important and applicable to the state going forward. An anonymous source in the Abia State government house confirmed that the executive governor has plegded to work with all and sundry. His Excellency is appealing to all Abians to heed the message espoused by the Highly Esteemed clergyman.

The worst is over as regards PDPs 24 years of brazzen looting, enchantment and enslavement. Indeed Governor Alex Otti’s first year in office has been a game-changer for Abia State. Otti’s administration has brought about tremendous progress and achievements in various sectors. His focus on transparency, economic revitalization, infrastructure development, education, and governance has been commendable.

Public Perception
The majority of the public views Otti’s administration favorably, grateful for the noticeable improvements and advancements accomplished in just one year. With higher public approval ratings than his predecessors, Otti’s vision for Abia State’s progress and prosperity is evident.
