Folllowing the visit of Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to Okon two days ago in which there was a confrontation between his Security Battalion and the ESN leading to the death of a young girl by stray bullets, Ohafia people have not known peace again.
It was reported that the Army has besieged the entire town terrorising anyone they see as they claimed one them was also shot in the gun duet. Since then economic activities and movements in Ohafia has seized and soldiers are shooting sporadically in the air causing panic and palpable fear on the citizens. Every street in Ohafia is presently deserted and the soldiers are everywhere.
This morning, reports reaching our news desk is that a young man has been gunned down again by the rampaging soldiers bringing it to about 5 people now.
It will be recalled that prominent Ohafians had pleaded for peace and tranquility to be restored in the commercial city while thinking of permanent steps to ensure lasting and sustainable peace in the area.
