THE CASSAVA-STEM COMEDIANS AND THEIR HARVEST OF IGNORANCE 🤣😂

Some mischief makers have apparently become so politically frustrated that they now regard cassava stems as symbols of failure. 🤣😂

They saw farmers receiving improved cassava stems, fertiliser and other agricultural inputs, yet hurried to social media to announce that Governor Alex Otti was “empowering Abians with ordinary sticks.”

What spectacular ignorance!

Cassava stems are not firewood. They are planting materials—the foundation of cassava production, food processing, livestock feed, industrial starch and rural income. No serious agricultural economy mocks the distribution of improved seedlings to genuine farmers.

The programme shown in the circulating video was not presented as employment for every Abian. It was part of a broader agricultural support initiative targeting 18,634 verified farmers with farm inputs and logistical assistance.

So, what exactly is the offence?

Should a government interested in food security distribute laptops for planting cassava? Should farmers receive microphones, designer shoes or political banners instead of improved stems, fertiliser and seedlings? 🤣😂

These critics conveniently cropped out the fertiliser, other inputs and participating farmers because their assignment was never to inform the public. Their mission was to manufacture ridicule from a legitimate agricultural intervention.

Unfortunately for them, cassava does not understand propaganda. It grows when properly planted. 😂

Even more embarrassing is their claim that Abia has witnessed “no real performance.” In May 2026, the administration reported 414 completed roads covering approximately 864 kilometres across the state. Earlier, multiple completed roads and fully equipped healthcare facilities had been inaugurated.

The government’s development priorities are also reflected in its budgets. Education received 20 per cent and health 15 per cent of the 2025 and 2026 proposals, while the greater portion was committed to capital development.

These are not cassava stems.

They are roads, schools, hospitals, public infrastructure and investments in human development.

Nobody claims that Governor Otti is perfect. Constructive criticism remains necessary. But reducing an agricultural support programme to “sharing cassava sticks” is not criticism. It is deliberate misinformation dressed in political bitterness.

Perhaps these mischief makers should return to school and learn a simple lesson:

Farmers need planting materials.
Planting materials produce crops.
Crops support industries.
Industries create employment.
Food production strengthens the economy.

That is elementary economics and basic agriculture.

Those who previously distributed wheelbarrows, frying pans, motorcycles and political wrappers suddenly discovered sophisticated economic vocabulary because Alex Otti distributed productive farm inputs. 🤣😂

Please, allow us to laugh again! 😂🤣😂

Abians can debate the quality, reach and implementation of government programmes. They can demand transparency, measurable yields and wider inclusion. But they should not permit professional propagandists to insult farmers or portray agricultural investment as evidence of failure.

Cassava stems placed in the hands of genuine farmers are productive assets—not political souvenirs.

The critics came looking for scandal.

Unfortunately, they only exposed their ignorance.

🤣😂🤣😂
