I Threw All My Gold Jewellery Into Lagoon After Salvation — Adeboye’s Wife
Foluke Adeboye, wife of Enoch Adeboye, has revealed how she threw away her gold jewellery after becoming a born-again Christian.
In a resurfaced throwback video, she recounted how her love for fashion once shaped her lifestyle before joining the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
“But joining the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) demanded a new lifestyle, one that discouraged wearing earrings at the time,” she said.
“Every woman loves fashion. The moment we were born again then in RCCG, it was a taboo for you to have earrings. So everything, I dropped it in the lagoon.”
Foluke added that the items she discarded included pieces she had set aside for her child, a decision that drew reactions from those around her.
“Whatever is not good for me is not good for my mother,” she said, recalling how a family acquaintance suggested she could have given the jewellery to her mother to sell.
Reflecting on the decision, she said, “I don’t miss anything, not much.”
