Umunneochi LGA Chairman, Mayor Afurobi Hosts Amb. Osita Offor, Yutong China, in Drive for Historic Industrialization Initiative in Abia State
In a groundbreaking move set to transform the industrial landscape of Abia State, Chief Mayor Afurobi, Chairman of Umunneochi Local Government Area, played host to a high-powered delegation from Yutong, one of the world’s leading industrial conglomerates, at his office, marking a historic milestone for the community and the state.
The visit, which also featured Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor, leader of the United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP) Forum, fondly known as “De Ultimate Commander” (Ikenga Gburugburu), underscored the strategic collaboration between visionary local leadership and global partners to establish a new industrial hub in Umunneochi. The planned Yutong facility will focus on the production of diversified products such as leather goods, lubricants, and other related industrial materials, setting the stage for job creation, economic growth, and technological innovation.



Chief Mayor Afurobi’s office became the focal point for discussions with Yutong executives, who were accompanied by local partners including Everyday Motors Ltd. His proactive leadership and hospitality were pivotal in facilitating intensive engagements with the delegation, ensuring that Umunneochi is positioned to benefit from state-of-the-art industrial processes and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Governor Dr. Alex Otti’s administration has continued to receive commendation for its unwavering support and commitment to industrial development, providing the enabling environment that makes such landmark collaborations possible. Representatives of the Governor, including his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, and Special Adviser on PPP-IP, High Chief J. N. Amakwe, joined the discussions, reinforcing the state’s dedication to sustainable economic growth.

The Yutong delegation included top executives such as Frank Lee, MD of West Africa; Damian Li, Account Manager; Xu Wenting, Head of R&D; and other key team members, alongside local partners Tony Godson Anyanwu, Project Promoter, Everyday Motors; Emeka Okelo, Chairman, Everyday Motors Ltd; and Mercy Torty of Everyday Motors. Also in attendance was Chief Ben Etie Junior (Ochiagha Nneato).
