Khamenei’s Wife Dies From Injuries Sustained In Israel-US Attack

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh has died of wounds sustained in recent U.S.-Israeli military strikes that killed him, Iranian state-owned Press TV reported Monday.

Several members of Khamenei’s family—including his daughter, grandchild, daughter-in-law and son-in-law—were also killed in the strikes, state outlets reported on Sunday.

She succumbed to injuries sustained during the joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes on Saturday, February 28, which also killed her husband.

She died in a Tehran hospital after being in a coma since the weekend attacks. Her death was reported by several official outlets, including Iran’s state TV Channel Two, the Tasnim News Agency, and Press TV, which stated she had “attained martyrdom”.

Born in 1947 in Mashhad, she was the daughter of a prominent businessman, Mohammad Esmail Khojasteh Bagherzadeh.

She married Ali Khamenei in 1964 and was the mother of his six children (four sons and two daughters).

Throughout her husband’s decades in power, she maintained a strictly private life and was rarely seen at public or government events.

Iran has declared a 40-day national mourning period following the deaths of the Supreme Leader and his family members.
