GAIYD: Amb. Dr Osita Offor Wins Great Achievers Award As Legendary Sports-Man of Year 2025
In a glittering ceremony attended by Nigeria’s elite, Ambassador Dr. Osita Offor-De Ultimate Commander (IKENGA GBURUGBURU) and President of United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP) Forun has been honoured with the prestigious Legendary Sports-man of the Year 2025 award at the 3rd annual summit of the Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD). The event, held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, brought together notable figures such as Ooni of Ife, HRM Adeyeye Emita Ogunwuai, Alhaji Aminu Yakubu, Wambai Wakili of Zazau, Dr. Olamipekun Olukayode, EFCC Chairman, Professor Jerry Gana, Chief Raymond Nkemdirim MFR, Ugwumba, and other dignitaries to recognize excellence and promote the welfare of the boy-child.
The GAIYD summit focused on addressing the imbalance in attention given to the girl-child, highlighting the need to support and empower the boy-child to create a more harmonious society. Speakers emphasized that neglecting the boy-child can lead to negative consequences, including increased crime rates, and stressed the importance of striking a balance in nurturing both genders.
Amb. Dr Osita Offor, a renowned sports personality, received his award and demonstrated his commitment to the cause by donating N500,000 to support a book on boy-child coaching. In his acceptance speech, he encouraged the organizers to continue promoting awareness on the importance of boy-child development, saying it was a step in the right direction towards creating a crime-free society.
The event underscored the need for a holistic approach to youth development, emphasizing that empowering both the boy-child and girl-child is crucial for Nigeria’s progress.
