IKENNA UKWA SPONSORS FREE EYE & MEDICAL OUTREACH & VISITATION TO MOTHERLESS BABIES HOME AS POST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION GIFT TO BENJAMIN KALU & ORJI UZOR KALU

The Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President of Nigeria, Hon (Dr) Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa yesterday sponsored free Eye and Medical Outreach including visitation to Motherless babies home, Lohum Imenyi Uzuakoli, in Bende LGA of Abia State as a post birthday celebration gift to the RT Hon Benjamin Kalu , the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives and the Senator Representing Abia North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu .

Both Federal Legislators who are illustrious sons of Bende LGA celebrated their birthdays in April and May respectively.

Hon Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa explained that the best way to celebrate and complement their efforts in their Federal Constituency and Senatorial zone is to carry out a programme that will make a meaningful impact in the community, hence, why he decided under the auspices of his foundation, IKENNA & JENN UKWA FOUNDATION to provide essential healthcare services to the community, addressing prevalent health issues and improving overall well-being and at the same time, complement the Abia state government’s efforts led by Dr Alex C. Otti in improving healthcare delivery in Abia.

In their respective speeches while receiving Hon Ikenna Ukwa’s team in the Motherless babies home, Lohum Imenyi Uzuakoli, the Project Director, Leprosy Centre & Motherless babies home, Very Rev. Joshua Okpara, ably represented by the Deputy Director, Welfare Department, Very Rev Nnaemeka Ajike, including the Procurement Officer, Mr Awa Kalu expressed overwhelming joy and gratitude to Chief Ikenna Ukwa for extending his benevolent heart and kind gestures to the motherless babies home and the occupants at the leprosy center.

Very Rev Okpara conveyed the heartfelt appreciation of the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba Jp., to Chief Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa for prioritizing the welfare of the orphanage home and the general wellbeing of the occupants at the Leprosy Centre, adding that his gesture will assist the Church and reduce the burden in running the centres.

They also described his gesture as rare and attested that he is among the few individuals that has remembered the centre in a special way that will remain evergreen in the memories.

“I know his grandfather, Late Chief A.O.Ukwa, who was once a former Chairman of Ohafia LGA. He was a Philanthropist during his own time and I am happy that his grandson, Chief Ikenna Ukwa has towed the line of his father’s philanthropy and kind-heartedness. I am not surprised he did this, because kindness and generosity runs in their blood”, Very Rev Nnaemeka Ajike added.

While thanking Chief Ikenna Ukwa for the items he provided for the orphanages home and the free medical outreach, they prayed God Almighty to bless and replenish his good deeds, and grant him more favour, grace and success in his future life ambitions.

Highlights of the outing was the presentation of food items, provisions, toiletries to the orphanage home and prayers offered by the children to Ikenna Nicolas Ukwa.

The free medical outreach which was held at the staff quarters of the Leprosy Centre, Uzuakoli; they were Physician’s Assessment, Vital Signs Screening, Free Eye Screening and Glasses, Blood Pressure and sugar screening, and free Drugs distribution to more than 100 occupants including adults and children by the team of Medical Experts.

The Motherless Babies Home and Leprosy Centre in Uzuakoli, Abia State, Nigeria, managed by the Methodist Church of Nigeria provides care and support to vulnerable populations, including orphaned children and individuals affected by leprosy.
