Abia needs a Regulatory Agency.
Citizens in Abia are facing arbitrary and exploitative pricing of various goods and services. Citizens are also facing unwholesome practices by Landlords, estate practitioners and other economic actors within the State. The costs of Housing, food items, healthcare, education, oil and gas and other necessary goods and services are on the rise without any justification. Standards are violated, government shortchanged and interests of consumers remain unprotected by the Government.
These unfair practice affect the dynamic policies of the State Government and the welfare of citizens. It also reduces the tax net and a lot of revenue that should accrue to the government are avoided. It’s the duty of every responsible government to effectively monitor and regulate various operators within the economic space. Abia needs a regulatory agency that will serve as a control mechanism against these unfair commercial actions against citizens
As a listening government, this agency will also be an essential avenue or gate for citizens to speak to Government. The agency will ensure standards in development even for public utilities and other sectors such as oil and gas. It will license professionals in various sectors including real estate and ensure revenue accruable to government are captured thereby unlocking value for the State. Issues such as dispute resolution and sanctions for violation of extant laws will be the responsibility of this Agency.

Finally, the Regulatory Agency will protect the interest of Consumers who will have a channel for complaints against unfair commercial practices.
