‘FOCUS ON JOURNALISM AND LEAVE POLITICS FOR POLITICIANS’ – PRINCE OKEY KANU KNOCKS ATTNEWS AT THE UNVEILING OF THEIR ABIA NORTH OFFICE.
Prince Okey Kanu Honourable Commissioner of information, ABIA State represented Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR at the Unveiling of ABIA THINK TANK ONLINE NEWSPAPER ATTNEWS Abia North Office at SKOG COMPLEX AMAEKPU OHAFIA. The amiable Governor Of ABIA State would have been present himself if not for several engagements. But sending representative in the capacity of the Honourable Commissioner of information shows how much value he placed on the event and we appreciate the Governor for his untiring support.
The Honourable Commissioner of information Prince Okey Kanu didn’t just end with delivering the Governor’s speech but combined it with expressing his personal animosity with the Management of ATTNEWS.
He started by saying even though we didn’t invite him personally but he is here to represent the State Governor who we chose only to invite. That it is expected that we are closer to him than the Governor of the State. But the true position is that we sent him an invite the same date and time we sent to the Executive Governor. The same with reminders for the event through the Whatsapp of Dr. Uduma Nnate our Publisher/CEO. The Governor chose to attend through a representative in his humble nature but the Honourable Commissioner of information needed more engagements that befit his ‘BIG MAN’ status.
As a matter of fact before sending the Invite, Dr. Uduma Nnate tried introducing our Newsblog to him and he answered ‘Who are you Please’? He responded by saying I’m Dr. Uduma Nnate, Publisher/CEO ATTNEWS and Member, ABIA State Task Force on Petroleum and Natural Resources. He didn’t respond again till now. Even after the event that he represented the Governor, Dr. Uduma Nnate sent him a thank you message and also to Governor Otti. The Governor responded to him within an hour but the Honourable Commissioner of information Prince Okey Kanu has not deemed it necessary to respond to till date.
Political Office holders should learn to be humble no matter how highly placed they are because power is transient. Those serving under Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR should learn from him. He is an epitome of humility and relates with everyone according to their level, rich and poor. He does this despite the height he had attained before becoming a Governor. Nothing has changed; he sees himself as a Servant Leader whom God has chosen. Anyway, it is said that power intoxicates more people that are not used to Power.
In the Commissioner’s closing remarks, he ‘advised’ ABIA THINK TANK ONLINE NEWSPAPER ATTNEWS Management to focus on Journalism and leave politics for politicians. That was the only word of encouragement and support he came with for a budding new media outfit that just opened a new outlet to serve the entire Abia North in a State he is serving as Commissioner of information and representing the Governor of our dear State. He forgot man by nature is a political animal. There is politics in every human endeavor even in our immediate homes. Maybe he was not told Dr. Uduma Nnate contested to be Governor of our dear State in 2011 and have been politically active. Or he didn’t know he is the DG of ABIA North Political Project. The Group that adopted Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR as the sole consensus candidate coming from the entire Abia North after screening other Candidates in the last election that produced Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR as the Executive Governor Of ABIA State.
The Commissioner’s Comments opened our eyes on why ATTNEWS has never been invited to the Governor’s monthly media chat and any of the State events.
Let’s continue to see ourselves as partners in the progress and rebuilding of a new ABIA of our dream. Rather than fighting and perpetrating vendetta, we should see our collective efforts and contributions in any form as necessary in building a formidable united force.
