Happy International Women’s Day 2025 to all the women worldwide.

Enyioma Ohafia International Ladies Association – EOILA will be celebrating Women’s Day today at Umuahia, Abia State, with Her Excellency, the Wife of the Executive Governor of Abia State, The wife of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, The Commissioner for Women Affairs all other Top and Important Personalities that will be attending the program today with them over there.

This year’s 2025 topic according to United Nations is to, #Accelerate Action# .

At the current rate of progress, ” It will take until 2158 to achieve full gender parity” according to the World Economic Forum. This year’s campaign emphasizes the urgency and importance of accelerating efforts to eliminate systematic barriers and biases that impede women’s equality.

The theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all where no one is left behind. This will transform the women’s rights agenda in terms of legal protection, access to services, youth engagement, and change in social norms, stereotypes and ideas stucked in the past.

Over the years, efforts have been made to curb gender inequality but it remains deeply entrenched in areas like economic participation, political representation, and combating gender-based violence, progress has been very slow.

We are campaigning to encourage activism and engagement at all levels – and therefore want to engage the media, corporate leaders, governments, community leaders, civil society and youths, organizations and others with influence to step forward towards gender equality.

We also need to “ACCELERATE ACTION” in dismantling the system of perpetual inequality such as unequal pay, limited access to education and representation in leadership and therefore plead with all to take action in our various communities to make sure all women and Girls are not being denied their Rights. We also ask our Leaders to take action and invest in promoting women’s rights and gender equality.

Enyioma Ohafia International Ladies Association being a predominantly Ladies Association and recognizing the vital roles women play in the family institution, we stand strong to promote and see to the development of family values, as well as special interests in social welfare, education, technology, agriculture and security. We are a people who have the interest of the under privileged, motherless, widows and challenged people at heart, as well as the drive to empower women, youth and children in our society and ensure we become a voice for abused and neglected children.

We want to encourage women to think positive towards life as thoughts are the steering wheel that moves your life in the right direction. Don’t worry about what you can’t control, rather shift your energy to what you can create. Be grateful for what you already have while you pursue your goals. Don’t let any of the obstacles or any of the difficulties you are facing stop you. Train your heart to accept disappointments even when they come from people you trusted with your heart. Keep going and eventually you will reach your destination. Bear in mind that the greatest people in the world have faced their own version of struggle.

Do not accept the status quo, but rather reach higher and become more than you believe you are capable of. Look at things from new and higher perspectives. Be patient with the present, know that the future holds possibilities that you may not yet be able to see.

Finally ” ACCELERATE ACTION” is a call for urgency, inclusion, and transformative change. It signals that equality cannot wait, and that all sectors of society must not work together to achieve this. It is a call to increase momentum and break down obstacles that prevent women from reaching their full potentials.
