This period has been marked by unprecedented achievements, innovative initiatives, and a renewed sense of purpose for the people of Ohafia LGA.
Infrastructure Development
One of the hallmark achievements of Mayor Kalu’s administration is the reconstruction of the historic Omenuko bridge in Ozu Abam, Arochukwu LGA. This project, flagged off by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, demonstrates the administration’s commitment to improving the infrastructure and connectivity of Ohafia LGA.
Empowering Youths and Women
Mayor Kalu’s administration has also prioritized the empowerment of youths and women in Ohafia LGA. The launch of a 3-month ICT training program, in collaboration with the Governor of Abia State, aims to equip youths with advanced technology skills, unlocking their wealth-creating potential and fostering positive social engagement.
Similarly, the administration has engaged with women’s associations, such as the Agborji Women Association (AWA), to forge powerful alliances and drive transformative change in the community.
Health and Security
The Mayor’s commitment to improving public health is evident in the flag-off of the 2nd round routine immunisation vaccine catch-up program in Ohafia LGA. This initiative, part of the Catch-up Vaccination Campaign Program initiated by Governor Otti, aims to provide optimal protection against diseases and prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
In the area of security, Mayor Kalu has reinforced the already established cordial relationship with the new Army Brigade Commander, discussing pressing security concerns and ensuring the safety of the community.

Mayor Kalu’s outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed. He has been nominated for the Rootswatch Magazine 2025 Merit Award, a testament to his dedication and commitment to the development of Ohafia LGA.
