RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR THE GREAT IGBO ACHIEVERS AWARDS.

As previously announced, the Nominations close today, the 15th of November, and the process of Recommendations would automatically be activated. A 7-Man Selections Committee headed by Chief Simon Okeke, former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, will pay visits to affected Igbo communities, and examine online & empirical records to identify and assess the candidates nominated for the Awards and make their recommendations. The Committee’s assignment would be concluded within 30 days, by 15th December, 2024.

The recommendations of the Committee shall be forwarded to the 24-Member Alaigbo Elders Council, which would make the final decision on the Recommendations. Their decision would be final.

The Awards are expected to hold late December 2024, and many who’s who in Igbo land and beyond are expected to attend the big event.

The Alaigbo Achievers Legacy, in collaboration with the United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide, is committed to showcasing the Igbo and like-minded Nigerians to the world. The Great Igbo Achievers, being conceptualized around this goal, would constructively examine landmark achievements and legacy projects of mainly Igbo men and women, but also including others whose efforts exert a positive influence upon the Igbo, for recognition and appropriate honours. It has a Vision to among other things evolve and pursue a digital benchmark of universal excellence in all aspects of life, and encourage Ndigbo everywhere, armed with this benchmark, to showcase themselves as global role models.

When interviewed, the Director General of the Alaigbo Achievers Legacy, organizers of the Awards, His Lordship, Justice Alpha Ikpeama stated that the primary focus of the organization at the moment is development, peace and security in Igbo land, and so, are doing their possible best to ensure their utmost realization, given that the Igbo people, noted for their hard work and industry can only operate maximally in an environment of peace and security.
