TRIVIALISING OPPOSITION POLITICS: Criticising Gov. Otti for Sleeping in the Night and Waking up in the Morning.
Few days ago, the motorcade conveying the remains of the First Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, OON, made a brief stop at Umuahia, the Abia State Capital for a commendation Inter-denominational service. The venue was at International Conference Centre, Umuahia built during the tenure of Dr. T. A. Orji as the Executive Governor of Abia State and renamed Ochendo International Conference Centre by the immediate past Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
On the same stage, the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti renamed Abia State Polytechnic, Aba (Abiapoly), to Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba (DOOPOLY) in honour of the man that nursed the vision of the Polytechnic and established it. As usual, the Umu-Agharigha opposition wailers wailed all day in their petty and travail opposition to everything including the air and food intake, shoes and clothes dressing and existing associates and investments of Governor Otti. If there was nothing wrong with their boss, Ex-Governor Ikpeazu renaming ICC to OICC, Faulks Road to Sam Mbakwe Road and ASUBEB building to Pa Micah Onyebuchi ASUBEB Building, what is the noise and wailing about giving honour to whom it is due just like many schools has been renamed after iconic figures. I guess it is the usual attempt by the lunatics trying to take over the asylum.
During the monthly media chat, Governor Alex Otti reiterated his earlier position that he does not have the luxury of time and energy to dissipate on responding to fictitious figures concocted by bitter and jobless lunatics whose stock in trade is spreading mis/disinformation and fake news when there are heaps of debris and mess left by the same bitter and desperate election losers to be cleared and cleaned.
The Governor explained to Abians that he is using Abia State funds to solve the humongous arrears of challenges created by those who looted the State dry and left it in ruins and despair. He reminded Abians that he has Reconstructed and Reconstructing strategic Roads like:Ossai Road, University Road, College Road, Green Avenue, Shalom Road, Umuodu Road, Umuimo Road, Udeagbala Road, Umule Road, Jubilee Road, Ehi Road, Kent Road, Obiora Road, Port-Harcourt Road, Omuma Road, Ohanku Road, Obiohia Road, Aba North Roads, Ekeakpara-Osisioma Road, Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road, Akara-Abiriba, Abiriba-Ohafia, and Ohafia-Arochukwu Highway Corridors. There are so many other completed and ongoing Road projects around the State including the newly awarded 9 Roads and City Gates of Onu-Imo to Tower and Owerrinta to Umuekaa Roads expansion and dualization amongst other ongoing projects.
The Governor leveraged on the media chat platform to inform Abians of the current Debt Profile of their State. In 2023, the Debt Management Office (DMO) through the #STATISENSE platform published the Debt Profile of Abia State between 2015 – 2023. Governor Otti told the press and Abians the current Debt Profile of the State which has been cut down to almost half of what it was to keep to the State commitments and obligations and avoid defaulting with it negative consequences. Some of the retarded opposition elements has jumped out, demanding the evidence of the repayment as if they cannot access the data from the Debt Management Office (DMO) which is a Federal Government Agency.
They are and remained so pained by the establishment of Signature Bank. The journey and process to the establishment of the Bank pre-dated 2022 when the First Branch was commissioned at Abuja by Citizen Dr. Alex Otti. It would have been appropriate for the emergency Billionaires to name a single investment they had before becoming Governor and aides to the Governor. They even built their private houses as Governor and aides to the Governor including ownership and driving of brand new Cars/Jeeps. The Governorship and Aides to the Governor position offered them the opportunity for the first time to travel abroad and they used public funds and platform. It amounts to misplaced outrage to wail over the investment and estates of a successful man who you once tagged ‘Helicopter Flying Governorship Aspirant’. Governor Alex Otti is living in a house he built before coming into politics in 2014. Over 3 of his personal brand new Jeeps are in the Governor’s convoy till date. Therefore, linking Signature Bank to his position as the Governor of Abia State cannot stick or sale. If you are in doubt if N90 Billion has been knocked off Abia State Debt Profile, the Debt Management Office (DMO) is a Public office where you can access such information without ignorantly ranting all over the social media space.
Finally, on the remanding of the accused pension fraudster who has confessed to his crimes and named his accomplices in the criminal syndicate, why are the wailers wailing when a lawful process was followed? If the suspect is left in the custody of the security agencies, they will cry foul and demand that he is charged to court and when he is charged to court, they will be demanding to know the name of the magistrate who remanded him. The wheels of Justice can never come to a halt even during strikes and court recess. Judges and Judicial Officers are appointed to bridge the gap to avoid breach and violation of the fundamental human rights of the citizens.
I thought these bunch were in Government less than 2 years ago!
