Hon. Chief Eleanya Ojuu Kalu: “I won’t let doubts hold me back”

Imagine walking into a grand, palatial parlour, surrounded by opulent furnishings and majestic scenery. The atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant, with soft lighting and plush carpets underfoot. The walls are adorned with stunning artwork and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Here was a gathering of esteemed individuals, engaged in a thought-provoking discussion. Hon. Chief Eleanya Ojuu Kalu, a respected leader and Mayor of Ohafia local government area, sits comfortably, sharing his insights and experiences with a group. Dr. Chukwuemeka Ifegwu Eke, the convener of the Ogunzu Movement, skillfully guides the conversation, exploring topics that resonate with the audience.

Seated alongside Hon. Chief Kalu are Miss Esther Abbah and Comrade Obiaruko Agbayim Kalu, the global Coordinator of the Abiriba Youth Council. Their presence adds a dynamic layer to the discussion, as they share their perspectives and expertise. The room is filled with an air of intellectual curiosity, as these influential minds come together to explore pressing issues and innovative solutions.

The scenery outside the windows complements the thoughtful ambiance within. Lush greenery and vibrant flowers create a stunning backdrop, reminding us of the beauty and potential that surrounds us. As the conversation unfolds, it’s clear that this gathering is more than just an interview – it’s a convergence of visionaries, united in their quest for positive change in Ohafia LGA.

“One of the first things I discovered as candidate Eleanya Ojuu Kalu vying for the office of the Mayor, was that no decision landing on my desk will be easy, having a tidy answer. Obviously, the easy ones, somebody else on my staff would have already answered them. And while few decisions in life are as complex as the ones you face in the Office, I did walk away from my years as ACIU branch President with some thoughts on how to approach tough questions”. He said.

“But the point is,” as he continued, in just a few short hours on this job, I had already realized that because every tough decision came down to a mathematical probability — which could leave me encumbered by the sense that I could never get it quite right.”

Chief Kalu added: “so, rather than let myself get paralyzed in the quest for a perfect solution, or succumb to the temptation to just go with my intuition every time, I created a sound decision-making process — one where I really listened to local experts – online, physically or otherwise followed the facts laid before me, considered my goals and weighed all of that against my principles.”

He concluded by insisting that, ” no matter how things turned out, I would at least know I had done my level best with the information in front of me.”

It’s our sincere hope that our dear newest Mayor, will make quality decisions for the development of Ohafia LGA.
